@dany.alvy: "This is a spectacular debut from a 19 year old author and it read as a seasoned professional. I didn't even know that it was a debut or a young author until I was 50% in and went to go add the book to my wishlist on Amazon ... I would have never guessed in a million years and I have a feeling this will be one of my top reads of 2023! The banter between Anya and Dax had me literally grinning the entire book. I didn't even realize I knew how to grin, but from the moment they met, I couldn't stop. They could be having a near death experience and I was still sitting there with this stupid smile plastered to my face like the Cheshire Cat. The situation didn't matter at all, I fell hard for them and I need more desperately! I can't wait for the next book!"

@that_bookaholic_gal: "I am absolutely shocked that this is a debut. The writing was captivating, the characters were so well developed. The quest/adventure was so entertaining and the chemistry between Anya and Dax was perfection. I can't believe I was reading a debut, because friends, this is the start of such a good series! I can't wait to see where this series goes, because I have a feeling it's going to be fantastic. If you're looking for a new YA fantasy series to pick up with the quest/adventure trope, a sparking romance, and a lot of danger ... then I highly recommend this book!"

@pastbookish: "This book was a wild ride. I had so much fun reading this. The adventure and thrill got me so excited to finish the book quickly! This definitely reminded me of the movie Uncharted meets Lara Croft with a little dash of Shadow and Bone & it was everything you'd want and need in a book 👏👏 i am so happy i was given the opportunity to read this book in advance because it was such a great read! It felt like i was on an adventure with Anya. 🤩"

@audreyoaksreadseverything: "Stars and Swashbucklers was a delightful surprise for me. This book reminded me of Hunger Games, Divergent and even a little Harry Potter ... Stars! I enjoyed this book and the characters so much. I've read so many books about girls fighting to be seen lately and this book continues that trend. "We are not dying today, Antoinette. Girls like us, we fight from the day we're born to prove to the world that we deserve better. You just don't realize it yet, that you deserve better ..." I can totally see this as a movie. It's almost like it is set in the past and the present at the same time."

@BayeringWithFreshmen: "I read the entire wonderful thing in one sitting last night. All 374 pages. I really, totally, thoroughly enjoyed this!  ... this felt like a "Spacey Crooked Kingdom mixed with Defy the Night and a touch of The Titanic" ... I loved it. I think if you also enjoy creative worlds that are high action but nothing overly complex, you should put this on your radar ... VERY impatiently awaiting Book Two."

@purrfectpages: "Stars and Swashbucklers is a hold on to your seat sort of adventure. It actually gave me Spaceballs vibes in many moments, minus the overt humor. Intentional or not, this is an entertaining story about the future, fate, and even a bit of falling in love. Teasers promise additional installments, so readers who grow attached to Anya and her adventures should be excited there's more to come. A novel that's an atypical read for me, I still enjoyed the journey and would take a trip back to the world Fitzgerald has created."

@joannasbookshelf: "Are you looking for a killer debut? LOOK NO FURTHER! Stars and Swashbucklers is a fantastic start to what is sure to be a captivating fantasy/sci fi series. ... I’m usually a bit hesitant when it comes to fantasy novels, especially long books. I worry that too much of the book will be about world building and character development rather than the plot. Lilah has a way of interweaving the plot with all of the character and world building and I loved the overall flow of the story."

@nurse_bookie: "Whoa! What a fun read. I devoured this creative storytelling with an incredible world building of a futuristic fantasy world with pirates in outer space. It's a story of an average girl given an opportunity to change the world - a coming of age story of bravery, siblings, and friendships, sprinkled with mystery, adventure, and love. I cannot wait for the sequel."

@mowgliwithabook: "I was really hoping this book had a sequel & it absolutely does !! And what a clifff hanger the author ended this boook on! @lilahfitzgerald it’s got to be illegal to stop a book at this point😂. This is Book 1 of The Last Montmorency Saga. Before I start rambling about how good this book was ... all sorts of perfect ->
✅It’s a cute YA
✅has adventure
✅has budding romance
✅a dashing male protagonist, who always say the right things at the right times,
✅a female protagonist, who is evolving and growing with the plot line.
I had no problem enjoying this book and found it really difficult to put down at moments of break. I am in awe of the Author’s creativity and imagination that has gone behind, creating the world and characters in the book. Anya and Ella‘s sisterly relationship was beautiful to follow as much as the Cavill Brothers bond. I can’t wait to read Book 2 and see what happens further!!"
